JJ Joong Jung Gallery was founded in 2011, aiming to be in touch with the current trends of contemporary art as well as to introduce talented Korean and international artists to the contemporary art scene. ‘Joong Jung (中正)’ stands for the gallery’s commitment and promise to operate fairly and equitably between the clients and the artists.
JJ Joong Jung Gallery’s represented artists include: Young Wook Choi, Chanoo Park, Jun Kun Choi, and Seung Woo Hwang.
Young Wook Choi paints his series ‘Karma’ with his aspiration to resemble the simple yet serene and elegant manner of the moonjar. Each line on the surface of the porcelain represents the different path we take in our lives. His works are included in the collections of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) in Korea. Chanoo Park’s ‘stone’ series and ‘Engram’ series, which express the layering time through his method of overlaying photographs, are included in the collections of the MMCA and Gwangju Museum of Art. Jin Kyu Park’s ‘untitled’ series are his unique three-dimensional spaces created upon two-dimensional planes of canvases, line by line, using syringe and acrylic paint. Jun Kun Choi’s ‘Sea’ portrays fragments of basalt from Jeju Island, painted with ink, and presents an exceptional tranquility of walking by the seashore. Seung Woo Hwang’s sculpture series ‘Head’ display multiple forms of human face depending on the point of view. It allows the viewers to observe the multiple versions of ‘self’ within them. His works are included in the collections of the MMCA, Seoul Museum of Art, and Busan Museum of Art.
